A Walk called ‘Navvies Trek’ as a part of the Trans Pennine Trail guided walk programme – which follows elements of Warrington’s Navigation heritage.
It starts at Loushers Lane car park and follows a short stretch of the Trans Pennine Trail, turns back up Blackbear Park to the Mersey, heads out from Westy Park across the Eyes at the back of Alcan, Thelwall Lane, the Ship Canal & Mersey to the Weir then back towards the start – full length of the New Cut, Paddington Bank, Victoria Park and Black Bear Park again.
Explore the route of the River Mersey through Warrington and discover some of the ways its navigation has been altered. The route includes Woolston New Cut, Woolston Eyes, The former Runcorn/ Latchford Canal and the Manchester Ship Canal. Approx 7 miles, please bring a packed lunch.
