IF YOU WISH TO BE INVOLVED WITH THE CLEAN UP OF OUR LOCAL ENVIRONMENT, THEN PLEASE COME ALONG TO ONE OF THE CLEAN UP SESSIONS. WE WILL BE PLEASED TO SEE YOU, & YOU CAN STAY AS LONG OR AS LITTLE AS YOU WISH! .
Please consider appropriate clothing & footwear, & bring gloves if possible.
Litter pickers and bag holders are provided.

All assistance is welcome, to help control the spread of invasive weeds over the area, which would change the ecology of the Meadows.

Meet at 7.30pm – Front of the Dog & Partridge, on Old Manchester Rd WA1 3TZ
Good sturdy footwear, good coat, torch required & insect repellent advised.
The Walk will be augmented by the use of bat detectors to aide in the location and identification of the species prior to hopefully spotting the individual.
The evening will commence with a brief discussion and familiarisation with some of Harolds rescued bats prior to crossing over into the Ecology Park & heading off through Woolston Park South & then along the river bank.
The evening may well continue for a couple of hours into the dark (depending on success and weather etc.). Safe passage at appropriate intervals back to a lit street environment will be provided to anyone wishing to leave earlier, who may be unfamiliar with Paddington Meadows.
It’s free to come along and enjoy and learn about these fascinating mammals. An optional small donation would be appreciated to assist in the running of Harold’s Bat Hospital.
Explore the route of the River Mersey through Warrington and discover some of the ways its navigation has been altered. The route includes Woolston New Cut, Woolston Eyes, The former Runcorn/ Latchford Canal and the Manchester Ship Canal. Approx 7 miles, please bring a packed lunch.

The illustrated talk shall cover the construction of the Manchester Ship Canal, the important commercial waterway and link for trade inland with the world at large, from Eastham to the docks at Salford.
The New Cut Heritage & Ecology Trail Group invite the community to come along.

Drinks can be purchased from the bar, & there will be a raffle with money raised for projects by the New Cut Heritage & Ecology Trail Group.

The Trail Picnic area – Woolston Park South (adjacent to the A57 Manchester Rd, & approx.. 150m from the gates to Woolston Waste & Recycle Centre off New Cut Lane).
All assistance shall be welcome.
Please wear good footwear and suitable outdoor clothing appropriate to the task.
A small number of spades will be provided, but please bring one along if you have one.

The saving of an historic steam powered boat from the scrap man, & the long story of a dedicated group of people committed to raising funding, fully renovating as a working boat, and operating with a financially viable business plan.
The Daniel Adamson – built at Birkenhead ship yard in 1903.
She is the last surviving steam-powered tug to be built, and believed to be the oldest operational Mersey built ship anywhere in the world.
The Group shall be holding a raffle during the evening, for those wishing to participate.
